Rio Nero
Visual Identity and Packaging
Rio Nero was a project from my final year at university,
the brief was to create a fictional brand that challenged
classic brands in it’s sector. I therefore created a relaxed
apres-ski brand targeted at the older generation, with
more disposable income. I wanted to challenge myself
to see how this brand could flex over various
touchpoints, and to craft something that felt classic and
high end.
I designed both the packaging and brand inspired by a story of my mum in which she had one too many rum hot chocolates on the slopes, and promptly fell off a button lift named Rio Nero. I wanted to create a brand that hinged off of this idea, designed to be either drank in elegant cocktails in hotels, or taken up the mountain in a hip flask. I there fore designed an original fullsized bottle, and a hip flask version. This whole project and concept was designed and produced by myself for my final submission of third year.
